The Umbria Jazz is the Italian version of the New Orleans festival. You can see the Algiers Brass Band from New Orleans marching on the street of Corso Vannucci. This is one of the main streets of Perugia in Italy. The grand marshal with purple feathers will lead the show as in the home. The band marches through the street blowing trumpets, marching and singing. The people standing near by the street will be enjoying the show clapping their hands and dancing.
The festival is being celebrated since 30 years. The festival will take place for a week every July in Perugia. This is a vibrant show of music down the street that attracts thousands of people every year. The cathedral and against a background of 12th and 13th century buildings and fountains are the main points that the band stops to perform special shows.
Crowds will get an opportunity to join the band and enjoy by dancing. The locals celebrate the festival following the band. They will be performing concerts soon after the end of the parade. The shops will be decorated with cakes made in the shape of saxophones and guitars. The picture museums will be filled paintings and photos of musical instruments.
There are plenty of free concerts available in Perugia in this season. Those who are ready to pay a decent amount can watch shows in Piazza IV Novembre and Giardini Santa Giuliana. The musical concerts will begin start soon after noon ends only in the late midnight. Bigger shows are arranged with lunch and dinner. Small theaters and big areas also host concerts for tickets.
Last year the festival was held from 8 to 17th of July. Elton John, Oscar Peterson, Tony Bennet, Diana Ross and George Benson were the foreign performers. The Italian musicians like Enrico Rava and Sicilian saxophonist Francesco were other perfomers.
